St. Matthews is an Anglican parish which was formed outside mainstream
Episcopalianism. Our fundamental aspiration is to be loyal to Holy Scripture
and proclaim the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ faithfully.
Our Confession of Faith is the Thirty-Nine Articles of Religion, which means
that our interpretation of Holy Scripture is in line with the Reformation and that
we seek to uphold the doctrines of grace uncompromisingly.
Our worship is liturgical and we use as our standard manual of worship the
Book of Common Prayer (1928). Of all the alternatives available this is the
American Prayer Book closest to the original compilation of Thomas Cranmer.
Our membership is approximately 120 persons strong, wideranging in ages,
and comprised of folk from other traditions as well as Episcopalian.
In additiion to valuing the heritage of our particular communion we rejoice in
our unity with all believers who acknowledge Jesus Christ as God's Son and
our Savior and Lord, and the Bible as the Word of God.
As we grow in grace, knowledge, and holiness together under the hand of God,
so too we pray for increasing warmth and mutual support in our fellowship as
members of the family of God. And we yearn for usefulness in reaching out to
the world with the message of divine mercy.
